OUR TEAM

OUR CURRICULUM

Snack Bar:  Kiddiwinks operates a ‘Snack Bar’ which aims to make snack time a social time and allows each child freedom to choose when
and what to eat.  We provide healthy and nutritious snacks and we ask that you advise us of any dietary needs for your child. In order to provide a wide range of snacks, we ask that parents contribute £27.00 per child a year or £4.50 a term.

POLICIES

If you would like to see the Pre-school Policies please see a staff member who will give you copies.

Our pre – school has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children who are in our care.  This means that we have a Safeguarding
Policies and procedures in place. All staff including volunteers must ensure that they are aware of our procedures.  Parents and carers are
welcome to read these on request. Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will always ensure that concerns regarding a child are discussed with parents/carers first unless such a discussion would place the child at significant risk of harm.

CLOTHING

The pre-school provides protective clothing for messy activities. Wellington boots are available for outdoor play. We encourage children to gain the skills which help them to become independent. Skills include self care and following healthy routines i.e. handwashing and dressing independently.  Clothing which is easy to manage will help with this. We ask that all items of clothing that may be removed are labelled so that they can be returned to the correct child at the end of each session. In the interests of Health and Safety, please avoid allowing your child to wear necklaces or chains and if they have earrings please ensure they only wear studs. In the summer we ask that you provide your child with sun cream and a sunhat for outdoor play.

TOILET TRAINING

We recognise that as children may be with us from as young as two, they will not necessarily be toilet trained. We ask that spare nappies are provided in case a change is required.  Staff will be happy to support parents with toilet training. Please discuss this with your child’s key person. Please bring a small bag with a spare change of clothing in case of any accidents. This should be clearly marked with your child's name and left on their coat peg and removed at the end of each session.

CHILDREN’S ILLNESSES

Where an incident of head lice is found parents will be confidentially notified. Exclusion from Pre-school of ill or infectious children may include German measles, Chicken pox, Measles, Whooping cough, Swine Flu, Hand Foot and Mouth disease.

Procedures for contacting parents or other authorised adults, if a child becomes ill during the session are by telephone when necessary.
Minimum periods of exclusion from the pre-school in the case of common infectious illnesses are as follows:

  • Diarrhoea and sickness – until the child has been clear for 72 hours; and

  • Impetigo, cold sores and conjunctivitis – until the infected area has been healed and theanti-biotic complete.
